Travelling With No Bag
I will be travelling without a bag for the first time this weekend, for our 6-day trip to Chiang Mai. Apart from wallet, phone and passport, here's what I'll be taking with me:
- 1 pair underwear
- toothbrush + toothpaste
- 5 dental floss picks
- comb
- eyebrow pencil
- moisturiser
- earplugs
- spare hairtie
- mini notebook + pen
I might hand-carry a bottle of water and a book with me on the plane - both to be disposed of upon landing - and I'll come back with as many snacks as can fit in the 7kg weight limit on AirAsia.
I'll be wearing: a sports bra, Uniqlo Airism boxers, convertible pants, old T-shirt I'm willing to throw away, socks and shoes, and - the one piece of specialty gear I bought for this trip - a flannel shirt with extra zipper pockets. I'm hoping this shirt works out. I plan to wear it as a jacket when it's cold and tie it around my waist when it's warm.
This was my first "onebag" trip, Jon and my 2-week train trip through Malaysia and Thailand in 2017.
I think this was 10 days in Sri Lanka in 2018. Why did I bring goggles?
Here was a short trip, maybe 6 or 7 days, in Malaysia in 2019. We went to Cameron Highlands on a whim.
And of course this year I grossly overpacked for our UK trip with far too many just-in-case items...
