2023 Week 36: Adjusting
This week I went abruptly from a 2-day to 5-day work week: I switched from 8-hour to 4-hour shifts at the bookstore, and I'm working an extra afternoon at a pet grooming place. So although I haven't been working that much more hours, I'm a bit more tired.
There are a lot of other small things going on that have been taking up my energy. Feels like I've got a lot of burners on at the same time: exercise, bookstore job, pet grooming job, rabbit boarding, second hand books, and writing.
Mon: yoga, 2-6 work. Dungeons & Dragons
Tue: run, cycle, 2-6 work. Only Connect
Wed: run & yoga, 2-6 work, Tropic Thunder
Thu: groom Frosty, family time, walk and dinner with Joel
Fri: yoga, 2-6 work, collect passport, book flights. Broken Embraces
Sat: write, book walk, Pinocchio
Sun: yoga, write, 2-7 pet grooming
We have been watching a lot of movies. Because I get home at 6.30pm we can eat dinner at 7pm and watch a movie until 9pm, which still leaves time to read and wash hair and stuff. Dungeons & Dragons was my favourite.
This week I've been reading Barbara Ehrenreich's Had I Known essay collection and Jules Verne's Around the World in 80 Days. The Ehrenreich makes me want to write a book again - a wish that tends to come up in the last quarter of the year, only to lay fallow for the next 3 quarters. I've been trying once again to write an account of my leaving professional work. But, ugh, I hate the over-edited, over-structured style that comes out when I try to write about this topic.
Some books I want (ordered My Day on World of Books, yay!)
Goodbye Frosty!!
