2023 Week 28: Walking
I went for several walks this week, rejoicing in my ability to do so, which, after the past year+ of plantar fasciitis, I will never take for granted.
On Monday Jon and I went for yoga and lunch in town, then we got reduced to clear tortillas at M&S. After coming home and taking a nap, I took the bus to Venus Drive and walked to Macritchie reservoir. It had rained that afternoon and the air felt and smelled cleansed. I found I didn't mind the humidity as long as I could smell this freshness and walk along the paths farthest from the roads.
For dinner we had Nissin frozen pasta. I didn't feel too great from all the processed/insta-food I've been eating.
The next morning I woke up sick, some kind of virus, and slept most of the day. Thereafter I resolved to eat better even if that meant spending more time and/or money. Dinner was chicken breast tortilla wraps a la Tiktok. I wasn't expecting much but wow! They were delicious!
On Wednesday I recovered and worked at the bookstore all day.
On Thursday Jon and I went out to Macritchie, picking up where I left off: this time we walked the Petai and Prunus trails. Macritchie is nice in the day on a weekday. Only bored retirees walking along the boardwalk.
I finished a major Action Item this week: taking photos of and posting my old books on Carousell. I managed to sell almost all my philosophy books, but fiction books barely move. It was worth a try I guess. When Books Beyond Borders reopens next week I'll take the unsold books there.
On Friday I worked, then Jon came and met me for dinner at Don Don Donki. We had a birthday coupon to claim at Hokkaido Marche and got this tempura bowl. It was a deathly amount of tempura.
On Saturday we welcomed a new guest bunny, Wawa:
We cooked, cleaned, and spent the afternoon watching Only Yesterday. After dinner we went for a walk, which I found restorative. After the walk, I showered and lay in bed reading Persuasion and fell asleep with no difficulty.
Today we didn't walk; we cycled instead to AMK library where I wrote and read more Persuasion. Someone delivered a few cardboard boxes of books to the free bookshelf and I shelved the books. Why did I do this? I have no explanation; it was second nature. The free bookshelf makes everyone happy; I just wanted to do my part to make it nice and neat.
...
This week has been quite nice. My head's been less preoccupied; I don't go to sleep or wake up thinking of a million things at once like I have been doing in the recent past.
I think the walks help. Or maybe it's all the Ben & Jerry's Tiramisu Topped ice cream I've been eating.
